The Building and Restoration committee is pleased to announce that after much hard work, Holy Trinity Cathedral has been given the green light from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency to proceed with our work on the Cathedral. Much of this work is being covered by the Partners in Preservation grant they gave us; as such, we had to secure their approval prior to starting. Now that we have that approval, the work can begin.
Phase 1 will include:
- Restoration of the front entrance canopy
- Dome restoration (stucco, stained glass windows and metal work detail)
- Metal roof decks and in-laid gutters
It is anticipated that some work will start by August 1. Here's to a safe and successful completion of our restoration efforts.
